The SCOAP3 for books program has announced the launch of its 2025 funding initiative, inviting scholarly publishers to submit proposals for the open-access publication of scientific monographs and textbooks relevant to the field of high-energy physics. The program supports works in physics, mathematics, engineering, instrumentation, and computer science, provided they have direct relevance to the high-energy physics research community.
Funded by contributions from members of the SCOAP3 Consortium, the program has so far supported the open-access publication of nearly 100 books, which are available through the SCOAP3 Collection in the OAPEN Library. With the 2025 cycle now open, the program continues its commitment to expanding access to scientific literature in high-energy physics and related disciplines.
Submission Guidelines and Eligibility: Publishers interested in participating in the 2025 program are invited to submit proposals for open-access funding for books scheduled for publication in 2025 and 2026. Submissions must be completed via the online application form before May 15, 2025.
To be considered, proposed books must:
• Be peer-reviewed and formally accepted for publication within the next 18 months.
• Include a substantial sample of the manuscript (at least one chapter).
• Have prior author consent for open-access publication under either a CC-BY or CC-BY-NC license.
• Adhere to the program’s publication timeline, with final publication no later than December 31, 2026.
Evaluation and Selection Process: All submitted proposals will undergo evaluation by a panel of scientists in high-energy physics, who will assess the submissions and determine which titles will receive funding. Publishers will be notified of the final selection results by October 1, 2025. Books published before this date will not be eligible for funding.
