Wiley, a major global publisher and information provider, has announced the expansion of its partnership with the Joint University Librarians Advisory Committee (JULAC) in Hong Kong. The Education University of Hong Kong, the consortium’s eighth member, has now joined JULAC’s Wiley transformational agreement for 2025. This collaboration provides researchers at all participating institutions with access to Wiley’s extensive journal portfolio and enables them to publish their research open access in nearly 2,000 hybrid and gold open access journals.
The agreement, initially launched in 2023 with three founding members, has led to a substantial increase in open access publication. Open access output in Wiley journals by consortium members rose from 30% in 2022 to over 70% in 2024.
A representative from Wiley emphasized that the growth of this partnership demonstrates a strong interest in open access publishing within Hong Kong’s research community. The collaboration has enhanced research visibility and encouraged increased knowledge sharing among the region’s academic institutions.
Wiley continues to expand its open access initiatives globally, having established more than 100 agreements worldwide.
