SPARC has appointed Corinna Turbes as its new Senior Manager of Government Relations. In this capacity, she will act as a liaison between SPARC and federal government officials, advocating for policies that support open research and open education.
Prior to joining SPARC, Turbes worked at the Data Foundation in Washington, D.C., where she initially served as a lobbyist for the Data Coalition community and later became Director of the Center for Data Policy. In this role, she engaged with both Congress and the executive branch to promote improved access to and responsible use of federal data. Before that, she held the position of Associate Director of Strategic Communications and Policy Analysis at the Council of Professional Associations for Federal Statistics.
In September 2024, Turbes was appointed to the Open Government Federal Advisory Committee (OGFAC), contributing expertise to initiatives such as the 6th U.S. National Action Plan and federal open government policy.
She is expected to begin her role at SPARC on June 2, 2025, during a period marked by increased focus on open data and research as public values.
