STM has announced the release of Level 3 of its SDG Sustainability Roadmap, an initiative designed to guide academic publishers in supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Building on the earlier stages of the roadmap, this latest phase aims to equip organizations with practical tools and strategies to implement focused actions where they are most impactful.
Level 3: Advancing SDGs Together leverages the collective expertise of STM members across the academic publishing sector. It includes a comprehensive compilation of insights, resources, and case studies illustrating how diverse publishers can collaborate in advancing reliable knowledge to contribute to global progress.
The roadmap’s third stage presents targeted strategies aligned with key Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) objectives, including SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). It features practical guidance on translating research into actionable insights and outlines replicable models for community engagement, policy advocacy, and sustainable development integration. The roadmap also includes best practices to facilitate collaboration among stakeholders.
According to STM, Level 3 represents a significant milestone by providing publishers with pathways to convert commitments into tangible impact. The initiative reflects the organization’s ongoing efforts to align with the SDG Publishers Compact and foster progress within the publishing industry. STM emphasized that this approach is designed to empower members and the broader community to take collective responsibility in advancing sustainable development.
