European Science Editing (ESE), the official journal of the European Association of Science Editors (EASE), has been accepted into the Web of Science Emerging Sources Citation Index. The indexing marks a significant milestone for the journal and will result in the assignment of its first Impact Factor later this year.
The journal’s inclusion follows several years of development to increase visibility, accessibility, and scholarly impact. In 2020, ESE adopted a diamond open-access model through the ARPHA publishing platform. Since then, additional changes such as expanding its editorial board, updating its publishing infrastructure, and external indexing via ScienceOpen have been implemented.
The journal focuses on all aspects of scholarly communication, including peer review processes, bibliometrics, scientific writing, publication ethics, editorial standards, open science, predatory publishing, statistics, and translation. As a result, it serves a diverse readership that includes journal editors, researchers, consultants, publishers, translators, and policy advisors involved in academic publishing.
Previously recognized with a DOAJ Seal for open-access publishing quality, ESE continues to evolve in response to the changing needs of the scholarly publishing community. While the DOAJ Seal is no longer awarded, the journal's emphasis on transparency, editorial rigor, and publication ethics remains central to its mission.
European Science Editing's official publishing platform provides access to all current and archived content and information on aims, scope, and submission guidelines. The indexing is expected to boost discoverability and broaden international readership.
