Society for Scholarly Publishing recognizes six members for contributions to the field -

The Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP) acknowledged six members for their service to the organization and the broader scholarly communication community during its 47th Annual Meeting held in Baltimore in May 2025. The awards recognized contributions in leadership, mentorship, committee service, and innovation.

Three individuals received the Appreciation Award, which is presented to members who have made significant contributions to SSP and the field within a period of fewer than three years:

Erin Foley, Director of Rightsholder Relations at the Copyright Clearance Center, was recognized for her role as co-chair of the Annual Meeting Program Committee. Her experience spans relationship management and strategic operations within scholarly publishing.

Stephanie Lovegrove Hansen, Vice President of Marketing at Silverchair, was acknowledged for her work as co-chair of the Marketing and Communications Committee and for contributions to The Scholarly Kitchen. Her background includes leadership roles across university and commercial publishing entities.

Sean Pidgeon, Executive Editor at the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), was recognized for his leadership of the Career Development Committee and coordination of the SSP Mentorship Program. He has held senior editorial roles across multiple publishing houses, including Oxford University Press and Wiley.

Two recipients were selected for the Emerging Leader Award, which honors early-career professionals with fewer than ten years in the field who have demonstrated service through committee involvement and innovation:

Ginny Herbert, Associate Publisher for Researcher Engagement and Experience at AIP Publishing, was cited for her participation in multiple initiatives, including the SSP/AUPresses Joint Task Force on Career Progression and the Generations Fund Committee. She currently co-leads the New Directions 2025 seminar.

Kasia Repeta, Analyst for Global Outreach and Publishing Systems at Duke University Press, was recognized for her leadership within the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility Committee and her coordination of its Accessibility Sub-Committee. She previously served as an SSP Fellow in 2019.

The Distinguished Service Award, which honors extended service to SSP and the field of scholarly communication, was presented to Emilie Delquie. Her involvement with SSP spans over two decades, including service as Secretary/Treasurer from 2020 to 2026, and prior leadership roles as a board member and chair of key committees.

Additionally, DataSeer received the Previews Presentation People’s Choice Award for Best Innovation.
