OhioLINK, the academic library consortium serving Ohio’s higher education institutions, has successfully transitioned its 115 member libraries to the Ex Libris Alma, Primo, and Rapido platforms. This marks the completion of one of the largest collaborative migrations in the United States academic library sector.
The new system modernizes library services across the state, improving access for over 850,000 students, faculty, and staff. More than 500 library professionals contributed to the migration effort, which remained on schedule and within budget. The initiative reflects OhioLINK’s long-standing commitment to shared services and academic innovation.
The implementation of Alma and Primo upgrades core library functions, while Rapido introduces next-generation resource sharing. OhioLINK plans to extend these capabilities with Alma Digital, Leganto, and the Ex Libris Library Mobile app rollout. The integration of Leganto into learning management systems is expected to support affordability initiatives and deepen the role of libraries in teaching environments.
In collaboration with SearchOhio, OhioLINK is also partnering with Ex Libris to unify statewide resource sharing via Rapido, with development efforts continuing through 2026. These enhancements position OhioLINK to remain agile and responsive to the evolving needs of the academic community.
