JSTOR Seeklight, an AI-driven collections processing tool within JSTOR Digital Stewardship Services, has received the 2025 C.F.W. Coker Award for Description from the Society of American Archivists (SAA).
The award recognizes projects that advance archival description practices through innovation and adherence to professional standards. JSTOR Seeklight was acknowledged for its integration of AI technologies with archival principles to support scalable workflows for metadata creation and content discoverability.
Developed in collaboration with archivists and librarians, Seeklight operates alongside tools for digital asset management and preservation to offer institutions a comprehensive approach to digital stewardship. The tool’s design reflects JSTOR’s broader focus on responsible technology use in support of knowledge access.
The Coker Award is conferred by an SAA-appointed subcommittee and highlights contributions that model best practices across the archival community. JSTOR is currently inviting institutions to participate in a charter program that offers early access to Seeklight and opportunities for peer collaboration.
