The University of Kansas Libraries (KU), a member of the Association of Research Libraries (ARL), will implement FOLIO, an open-source library services platform hosted by EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO). The transition reflects the institution’s strategy to modernize library infrastructure in alignment with open standards, scalability, and academic values.
FOLIO will be deployed across the university’s primary library divisions—including KU’s main campus libraries, Wheat Law Library, and the A.R. Dykes Library at the medical center. Its modular design will support local workflows while enabling system-wide efficiencies through shared infrastructure.
With this implementation, KU joins a cohort of research institutions advancing open, interoperable systems in academic libraries. The Libraries’ adoption of FOLIO builds on their long-standing efforts in open educational resources, open journal hosting, and institutional repository development.
