Ohio University Libraries reports that its investment in transformative agreements with major publishers has enabled OHIO faculty to publish over 223 open access journal articles, saving more than $744,000 in Article Processing Charges (APCs) since 2022.
Through partnerships with publishers including Elsevier, Springer, Wiley, Cambridge, and the Institute of Physics, the initiative is helping to expand access to OHIO research while easing authors' financial burdens.
Additional agreements are also in place with publishers such as Company of Biologists, BioMedCentral and SpringerOpen.
The program, administered through OhioLINK, the state’s academic library consortium—has seen significant uptake and may reach its annual funding limit during the upcoming fall semester. Authors are encouraged to submit manuscripts early to take advantage of remaining funds.
In addition to funding support, Ohio University Libraries and OhioLINK offer guidance on compliance with open access mandates, publishing options, and journal eligibility under transformative agreements.
