The International Association of Scientific, Technical and Medical Publishers (STM) has announced that Barbara Kalumenos will retire on August 28, 2025. Kalumenos joined STM in 2008 as Director of Public Affairs, building the association’s presence in Europe and developing relationships in Japan, China, and India.
During her tenure, she worked on industry issues including copyright reforms and the rise of open access and open science. She also served as a key contact for German members and engaged strategically with publisher associations across Europe.
STM credited her networking skills and stakeholder engagement with strengthening the organization’s international profile. The association acknowledged her contributions to the scholarly publishing sector.
