In partnership with Wiley, the British Psychological Society (BPS) will launch Environmental Psychology Research (EPR) in 2026 as its first fully open-access journal.
The publication will cover research at the intersection of psychology and the environment, spanning urban design, sustainability to virtual spaces, climate change and disaster response. It will accept various contributions, including empirical studies, reviews, policy briefings, and theoretical perspectives, while encouraging methodological diversity.
The journal is positioned to support an international community of scholars and will emphasize equality, diversity, and inclusion. Submissions are invited from traditional and non-traditional contributors, focusing on amplifying perspectives from the Global South.
Professor Lorraine Whitmarsh of the University of Bath and Dr. John Jamir Benzon Aruta of De La Salle University will serve as founding Editors-in-Chief, supported by an international editorial board. Together, they will guide the journal in building a platform for advancing multidisciplinary insights into the psychological dimensions of environmental challenges.
Submissions are now open, with author guidelines on the journal’s website.
