Diana Schendel appointed Editor-in-Chief of Autism Research -

The International Society for Autism Research (INSAR) has appointed Diana Schendel of Drexel University as the next Editor-in-Chief of Autism Research, effective January 1, 2026.

A leading epidemiologist with over two decades of experience, Schendel has an advanced understanding of autism spectrum disorder through research on risk factors and public health implications. She currently leads the Modifiable Factors in Autism Epidemiology Research Program at Drexel University’s A.J. Drexel Autism Institute and has served as associate editor of the journal for three years.

Schendel succeeds David Amaral, who led the journal for 11 years and helped build its reputation as a key platform for autism research. As Editor-in-Chief, she will oversee editorial strategy, peer review, and global engagement while serving on the INSAR Board of Directors.
