BMJ Group has expanded the reach of its Research to Publication (RtoP) program with recent outreach activities in the Middle East, led by Dr. Sarah Abdi, the program’s editor.
A workshop for the Emirates Society for Rheumatology trained 14 rheumatologists on research design, ethical considerations, manuscript preparation, and the responsible use of generative AI in medical writing. The session concluded with insights from BMJ Open’s Editor-in-Chief on journal selection, peer review, and avoiding predatory publishing.
In a separate online lecture for Qatar Primary Healthcare Corporation, attended by 99 participants, Dr. Abdi outlined systematic approaches to evidence syntheses using the SALSA framework. Both sessions received strong feedback, with participants rating the workshop 9.5 out of 10.
The RtoP program, developed by BMJ Group in collaboration with the University of California, San Francisco, includes 52 courses across eight collections and offers more than 200 hours of online training. BMJ continues to expand the program with new topics such as case reports, reflecting user demand.
