The Association of Research Libraries (ARL) has named Linh Nguyen as its new Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). Nguyen previously served as manager of Student Equity Initiatives at Western Technical College in Wisconsin, where she led projects focused on institutional equity and community belonging.
Nguyen has nearly a decade of experience in higher education, with expertise in program development, policy design, and cross-campus collaborations supporting first-generation, IBPOC, LGBTQ+, and student-parent populations. She has also worked on securing state and federal funding for initiatives aimed at removing systemic barriers to education.
In her new role, Nguyen will contribute to the design and delivery of ARL’s Leadership & Transformation programs, provide resources to advance DEI objectives, and help measure the association’s impact. She will work closely with ARL’s DEI Committee and member institutions to strengthen inclusive practices across research libraries.
Nguyen completed her doctorate at the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse, where her dissertation focused on the experiences of second-generation Vietnamese refugees and immigrants in higher education. Her appointment underscores ARL’s commitment to equity and inclusion in shaping the future of research libraries in the US and Canada.
