AIP Publishing launches inaugural issue of APL Computational Physics -

AIP Publishing has released the first issue of APL Computational Physics, its latest open access journal dedicated to computational models, methods, algorithmic designs, and simulations shaping the physical sciences.

The journal provides an open access platform for research spanning physics, chemistry, materials science, applied mathematics, and computer science, with an emphasis on algorithmic design and interdisciplinary approaches. The opening issue features perspectives, research articles, and software contributions that highlight advances in density functional theory, quantum state preparation, large language models in biophysics, and simulation techniques across materials and condensed matter systems.

A defining feature of the journal is its open data policy, requiring authors to make data, code, and supplementary materials publicly available at submission. This policy supports sustainable access and ensures research is permanent, discoverable, and reusable.

The editorial team includes Editor-in-Chief Prof. Xiaosong Li (University of Washington) alongside Associate Editors Prof. Hongjun Xiang (Fudan University), Prof. Dominika Zgid (University of Michigan), and Prof. Jin Zhao (University of Science and Technology of China).

The launch of APL Computational Physics reflects AIP Publishing’s commitment to advancing computational methods as a driver of discovery in the physical sciences.
