PLOS has named Professor Sera Young, a faculty member at Northwestern University, as Co-Editor-in-Chief of PLOS Water. Young, a professor of anthropology at Northwestern University, in Chicago, Illinois and co-director of the university’s Center for Water, also serves as a fellow at the Institute for Policy Research.
Trained in medical anthropology and public health nutrition, Young’s work focuses on how women in low-resource settings sustain their health and well-being. Her research includes developing the Water Insecurity Experiences Scales.
In her new role, Young will guide the journal’s editorial direction alongside existing Co-Editor-in-Chief Professor Pierre Horwitz and Executive Editor Guillaume Wright. She aims to promote multidisciplinary research that connects water-related issues with broader fields such as Civil engineering and Policy, Climate science and Health, Chemistry and Sociology, Education and Economics, while encouraging contributions from civil society, governments, and NGOs.
