Elsevier has introduced a Clinical eLearning course in stroke management that has been designed to help institutions provide essential training for nurses.
The course aligns with US stroke center certification guidelines. It uses multimedia resources, including Elsevier content from Complete Anatomy (the 3D learning platform) and Osmosis (with videos and illustrations), along with videos from the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
The curriculum covers recognition of stroke symptoms, prevention strategies, and adherence to accreditation standards. It includes:
• Expert content developed by subject matter experts.
• Pre-tests, in-lesson knowledge checks, and post-module case studies to reinforce learning and assess competency.
• Modules structured as approximately 20-minute micro-lessons to fit within nurses’ schedules.
Tim Morris, Vice President of Commercial, Nursing at Elsevier, has highlighted that there is a growing demand for trusted, ready-to-use solutions to support stroke preparedness. He added that, drawing on Elsevier’s evidence-based content, the course enables institutions to upskill nursing teams and improve stroke care delivery without creating content in-house.
