Wolters Kluwer launches new Lippincott DocuCare to provide realistic EHR workflows for nursing students -

Wolters Kluwer Health has announced the next generation of Lippincott® DocuCare, an academic electronic health record (EHR) platform designed to support nursing students as they transition from education to clinical practice.

The reimagined simulated EHR provides a realistic, user-friendly experience modeled after leading industry EHR systems used daily by practicing nurses. Fully integrated with the Lippincott learning suite, DocuCare combines classroom and clinical instruction to help students apply their knowledge throughout the curriculum.

The transition from education to clinical care has remained a significant challenge for new nurses and healthcare organizations. The availability of clinically oriented application tools within nursing education has been shown to enhance clinical judgment and reduce transition-related challenges. By using DocuCare, students practice documentation that supports safe, effective care delivery and clinician-patient communication, building readiness for real-world environments and meeting employer expectations while fulfilling curriculum objectives.

Aligned with standards set by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) and the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN), DocuCare has been structured to support accreditation and competency-based education. It integrates seamlessly across Lippincott products, providing a unified gradebook, streamlined course management, and curriculum alignment. The system also includes more than 400 customizable patient records, enabling team-based instruction and coverage across courses, clinicals, and simulations.

The tool also enables exposure to medication adherence practices within the classroom setting. With studies showing a nearly 94% error rate in patient medication histories, DocuCare ensures that students interact with regularly updated, medically approved facts to guide informed clinical decisions. This training prepares future nurses for the complexities of patient care.

Through realistic patient scenarios, case reviews, and simulation-based exercises, DocuCare allows students to apply theoretical concepts and develop practical competence. Wolters Kluwer continues to provide resources that strengthen nursing education for both students and instructors. More information on the full Lippincott suite is available through Wolters Kluwer.
