JMIR Publications and the MidSouth Computational Biology and Bioinformatics Society (MCBIOS) have entered into a long-term partnership that designates JMIR Bioinformatics and Biotechnology as the official journal of MCBIOS. The landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) gives MCBIOS members a stable, high-impact venue to publish their research, especially the output from the Society's annual conference. Now unified, both organizations are committed to rapidly promoting and disseminating high-quality, peer-reviewed research in bioinformatics and computational biology to the widest possible audience.
Effective October 10, 2025, the partnership will ensure cutting-edge research from MCBIOS members gains maximum visibility through JMIR's commitment to open science and high-impact publishing standards. The agreement supports the dissemination of peer-reviewed work in bioinformatics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big data analytics, reflecting both organizations’ commitment to open science and rapid knowledge sharing.
Under the partnership, JMIR Bioinformatics and Biotechnology will carry the byline “Official Journal of the MidSouth Computational Biology and Bioinformatics Society.” The arrangement provides member benefits such as discounted article processing fees, virtual publishing workshops, and an annual themed issue showcasing selected conference research.
MCBIOS will promote the journal as its exclusive publishing partner for conference proceedings and related initiatives. The collaboration underscores a shared goal of advancing computational biology through open access publishing and enhancing the global reach of scientific research across the MidSouth region.
