A series of expert-led Research Integrity workshops is scheduled to debut on December 9 during the afternoon session of the STM Innovator Fair in London. The addition has been developed in response to participant feedback requesting more applied and practical learning opportunities focused on research integrity ahead of STM Research Integrity Day on December 10.
The 1.5 hour sessions will run concurrently with the Fair’s afternoon program and are designed to provide participants with opportunities to examine integrity-related issues in depth. The workshops will focus on peer exchange, practical tools, and skills applicable to research and publishing activities. Attendance requires a registration fee of €99.
Three parallel sessions will be offered. The first, Forensic Scientometrics: Enhancing Research Integrity and Security for the Scholarly Ecosystem, will be facilitated by Leslie McIntosh from Digital Science and René Aquarius from Radboudumc, and will examine the use of forensic scientometrics to identify manipulation in research processes and strengthen transparency and trust within the scholarly system.
The second workshop, Communication and Collaboration with Institutions, will be led by Elizabeth Moylan from Wiley, Luigi Longobardi from IEEE, and Olivia Nippe from Elsevier, and will cover practical strategies for coordinating with institutions when research integrity concerns emerge and for building stronger partnerships across the academic publishing ecosystem.
The third session, Helping Your Editors and Reviewers Understand Research Integrity Issues, will be facilitated by Sabina Alam from Taylor & Francis, Daniel Acuna from ReviewerZero AI, and Jigisha Patel from Research Integrity Ltd, and will focus on supporting editors and peer reviewers in recognizing and addressing research integrity challenges through discussion and applied guidance.
The workshops will take place from 14:30 to 16:00 at BMA House, London, during the STM Innovator Fair. They are open to all I&I Days attendees, whether participating in the full two-day event or attending only the first day, and are intended to provide participants with actionable knowledge, new ideas, and opportunities to strengthen professional networks within the research integrity community.
