AGU Publications has appointed new Editors-in-Chief for five journals beginning in 2026, continuing a structured leadership transition within its publishing program.
The new editors are Natalia Ganjushkina (JGR: Space Physics), Sarah Feakins (Paleoceanography and Paleoclimatology), Annalisa Bracco (Perspectives of Earth and Space Scientists), Steven Morley (Space Weather), and Giulio Viola (Tectonics). Ganjushkina will begin her full term on January 1, 2026, serving interim leadership through the remainder of 2025 following the passing of Michael Balikhin.
AGU acknowledged the outgoing Editors-in-Chief—Balikhin, Matthew Huber, Michael Wysession, Noé Lugaz, and Taylor Schildgen—for their service and contributions to scientific publishing.
Editor-in-Chief appointments are made through an open call process managed by dedicated Search Committees in coordination with the Publications Committee and AGU leadership. The system ensures diversity, balance, and transparency in editorial selection across AGU’s journal portfolio.
