The Radiological Society of North America has named Jeffrey S. Klein, as President of the RSNA Board of Directors. The appointment was announced during the Society’s annual meeting and reflects Dr. Klein’s long tenure in radiology education, scientific leadership, and professional service.
Dr. Klein is a consultant to the Department of Radiology at the VA White River Junction Healthcare System in Vermont and is widely recognized for contributions to the diagnosis and staging of lung cancer. He previously served as Editor of RadioGraphics from 2012 to 2020 and as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Thoracic Imaging from 2000 to 2005. As RSNA President, he will support the Society’s work in advancing radiology education, science, and technology, with a focus on strengthening learning resources for the medical imaging community.
Over several decades, Dr. Klein has held academic and clinical leadership roles at the University of California, San Francisco, St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, and the University of Vermont, where he served in faculty positions culminating in the Green and Gold Professorship of Radiology. His career includes extensive contributions as a manuscript reviewer for major radiology journals and participation in multiple RSNA committees spanning publications, education, research, professionalism, diversity, and quality improvement.
Dr. Klein joined the RSNA Board of Directors in 2018 and has since served as Board Liaison for Publications and as Secretary-Treasurer before becoming chair in 2024. His long record of professional service also includes leadership roles in the Society of Thoracic Radiology and participation in federal expert panels advising imaging protocols under the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act.
The announcement highlights Dr. Klein’s ongoing work as an educator, including development of case-based review courses and longstanding involvement in programs supporting continuing medical education within the radiology community.
