The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) has appointed Dr. Ross Levine, as the Editor-in-Chief of Blood Cancer Discovery, one of the association’s 10 peer-reviewed journals. Levine will serve in the role alongside founding Editors-in-Chief Riccardo Dalla-Favera, MD, FAACR, and Kenneth C. Anderson, MD, FAACR, who have led the journal since its launch in 2019.
Blood Cancer Discovery publishes original research articles, briefs, reviews, and perspectives covering major advances in basic, translational, and clinical research related to leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, and related diseases. The journal addresses a wide range of topics, including genetic, immune, metabolic, and microenvironmental drivers of oncogenesis, therapy resistance, new therapeutic approaches, diagnostic tools, biomarkers, and computational and machine learning methods applied to personalized medicine.
Levine brings extensive experience in blood cancer research, with a career focused on uncovering the genetic mechanisms underlying myeloid malignancies and translating those insights into clinical applications. His research includes work on JAK-STAT signaling pathways and the impact of epigenetic mutations in clonal hematopoiesis and acute myeloid leukemia.
He currently serves as Chief Scientific Officer at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where he also holds the Edward P. Evans Endowed Chair for Myelodysplastic Syndromes. Levine is also a professor of medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College.
An AACR member since 2008, Levine has held multiple leadership and advisory roles within the organization, including service on the Scientific Advisory Council and the Hematologic Malignancies Working Group Steering Committee. He previously served as a scientific editor for Blood Cancer Discovery and as deputy editor of Clinical Cancer Research.
Over the course of his career, Levine has received numerous national and international honors for research, mentorship, and scientific service. He earned his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and has authored more than 350 scientific articles, along with numerous books, book chapters, and review publications.
