Takeda and Nature have announced the shortlisted finalists for the 2026 Innovators in Science Award. The award supports emerging biomedical researchers worldwide working in Gastrointestinal and Inflammatory Diseases, Neuroscience, and Oncology.
The global award was launched in 2016 and recognizes research led by early-career scientists focused on advancing scientific discovery. The Innovators in Science Award is one of the largest prizes of its kind for early-career researchers and emphasizes collaboration between industry and academia. Nine early-career researchers have been selected from 315 submissions representing 47 countries and 230 institutions through a judging process convened by the Nature Awards program.
Three category winners will be announced in February and will each receive an unrestricted $75,000 prize. One grand prize winner will be announced at the Innovators in Science Award ceremony on April 9, 2026, and will receive an additional $175,000 award, bringing the total grand prize to $250,000. All shortlisted finalists will also receive a 12-month career development program administered by Nature.
