Mark Schweitzer appointed Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Investigative Medicine -

Dr. Mark Schweitzer, special associate for Public Health Planning at Wayne State University, has been appointed Editor-in-Chief of The Journal of Investigative Medicine.

The peer-reviewed journal is the official publication of the American Federation for Medical Research and publishes original research articles and reviews covering basic, translational, and clinical research.

Dr. Schweitzer brings extensive experience in academic medicine, research leadership, and clinical investigation. He has served on multiple expert advisory panels, including National Institutes of Health study sections and panels for the Food and Drug Administration. His career includes numerous teaching, mentoring, and research awards.

As a principal investigator or co-principal investigator, Schweitzer has led or contributed to more than 30 funded research grants, including NIH R01 awards. His research background also includes conducting clinical trials involving novel contrast agents.

Board certified by the American Board of Radiology, Schweitzer has held leadership roles within professional societies, including serving as presiding officer of the Radiological Society of North America and the International Skeletal Society.

In his new role, Schweitzer will oversee the journal’s editorial direction and peer-review process, supporting the publication of research that advances understanding across the spectrum of investigative medicine.
