Boise State University’s Albertsons Library has joined a Sage Publishing read-and-publish agreement through the Statewide California Electronic Library Consortium (SCELC), expanding open access publishing options for affiliated researchers.
Through the agreement, Boise State is one of 71 participating institutions, allowing corresponding authors affiliated with the university to publish open access articles in eligible Sage hybrid journals at no cost. Authors choosing to publish in Sage Gold open access journals are also eligible for discounted article processing charges.
The agreement provides access to more than 1,000 eligible hybrid journals. Once an article is accepted, publishing charges are covered under the agreement, subject to approval, reducing financial barriers associated with open access publishing and increasing the visibility of research outputs.
Albertsons Library began participating in read and publish agreements in 2021. In addition to the new Sage agreement, the library’s portfolio of transformative agreements includes arrangements with the American Chemical Society, Association for Computing Machinery, Cambridge University Press, Company of Biologists, Elsevier ScienceDirect, IOP Publishing, and Springer Nature.
These agreements are designed to support open access publishing by lowering or eliminating article processing costs for authors while maintaining access to subscription-based scholarly publications. Albertsons Library provides guidance to help researchers identify eligible journals and understand publishing options under each agreement.
Alongside publishing support, Albertsons Library has introduced an Experts Portal that consolidates researcher profiles, publications, awards, and activities into a single searchable platform. The portal is designed to improve research visibility, support collaboration, and streamline the management of scholarly information.
