Hasgall joins LIBER from the Swiss National Science Foundation, where he served as Head of International Funding Policy between 2024 and 2025, developing a global cooperation strategy and managing partnerships with international research funders. Previously, he was Head of the Council for Doctoral Education at the European University Association from 2017 to 2023, leading strategy development and representing the European doctoral education community in international forums.

Hasgall holds a doctorate in Contemporary History from the University of Zurich and studied Philosophy and History at the University of Zurich and the Free University of Berlin. His academic work examined knowledge politics, archives, and institutional memory related to Argentina’s military dictatorship.
