Pensoft and the University of Zurich have signed a strategic open access agreement that enables researchers from participating institutions to publish their findings in Pensoft’s peer-reviewed journals without paying individual Article Processing Charges (APCs).
The agreement covers five research and medical institutions: the University of Zurich, the University Hospital of Zurich, Balgrist University Hospital, University Children’s Hospital Zurich, and the Psychiatrische Universitätsklinik. Under the arrangement, corresponding authors affiliated with these institutions can publish in 65 peer-reviewed journals published by Pensoft or hosted on the ARPHA publishing platform.
Publishing costs are fully covered through a centralized institutional deposit secured by the University of Zurich, removing financial barriers for authors and allowing research findings to be made immediately and freely available upon publication. The agreement supports dissemination to both the academic community and the wider public.
Eligible journals include titles such as ZooKeys, PhytoKeys, Biodiversity Data Journal, NeoBiota, and IMA Fungus. Research outputs are published under open licenses in alignment with the FAIR principles, ensuring that data remain findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable.
