SciLifeLab launches open science monitor powered by OpenAIRE -

SciLifeLab has launched the SciLifeLab Open Science Monitor, powered by OpenAIRE MONITOR and CONNECT, to provide greater visibility into research outputs and open science practices across the institution. The platform is openly available at https://scilifelab.openaire.eu

OpenAIRE MONITOR provides tailored dashboards that track and analyze research outputs, sharing practices, and research impact for SciLifeLab and other research organizations. In parallel, OpenAIRE CONNECT delivers full-text mining capabilities designed to automatically identify and link datasets and software within publications, improve metadata quality, and support compliance with national and institutional open science policies. Both services are built on the OpenAIRE Graph, a global open database that links publications, data, software, and research projects.

The initiative aligns with Sweden’s national objective to fully implement open science by 2026. National guidelines for promoting Open Science emphasize public access to research data alongside open access to publications. The SciLifeLab Open Science Monitor is expected to improve metadata, strengthen links between research outputs and repositories, and provide a more comprehensive overview of how research outputs connect across publications, data and software.

Institutional leadership noted that the monitor will enable more detailed tracking of progress towards open science goals and provide a national-level view of how open science strengthens scientific impact and innovation in life sciences. The framework is comparable to national open science monitors established in France, Ireland, Germany, and the Netherlands.
