Emerald Publishing has announced a strategic collaboration with the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME), an initiative of the United Nations Global Compact that promotes the integration of ethics, sustainability, and social responsibility into business and management education. Under the collaboration, Emerald Publishing will launch two PRME co-branded academic journals.
The organizations stated that the initiative is intended to advance responsible management education and research globally. PRME is an international network involving more than 850 signatory institutions across 96 countries and supported by 17 regional chapters. Its mission focuses on embedding sustainability and responsible management values within higher education, which Emerald states aligns with its publishing approach focused on research with real-world impact.
The Journal of Responsible Management Education will provide a platform to support research on the global responsible management education (RME) agenda. The journal will publish research and practice-focused contributions across several subject areas.
● Ethics, corporate social responsibility, and sustainability (ECSRS) education
● Education for sustainable development (ESD)
● Responsible management education (RME)
● Contributions aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
The journal is intended to support educators, institutions, and policymakers through publication of evidence-based research, innovative pedagogical approaches, and examples of educational practice.
The second publication, Artificial Intelligence and Responsible Management (AIRM), is a hybrid, peer-reviewed journal that examines how AI technologies can be applied across business disciplines and industries to address responsible management challenges. The journal focuses on principles including ethics, sustainability, accountability, inclusivity, stakeholder engagement, and transformational leadership. It accepts interdisciplinary research reflecting contemporary organizational environments and the need for responsible and collaborative solutions in an AI-enabled world.
Emerald Publishing and PRME invited researchers, educators, and practitioners from the global responsible management community to participate in the initiative.
● Researchers may submit research contributions.
● Individuals may visit and engage with the journal platforms.
● Scholars may apply to serve on advisory boards or act as peer reviewers.
PRME signatory members represent a primary audience for the journals and constitute a global community of authors, reviewers, and researchers focused on sustainability, ethics, and responsible business. The journals are also intended to serve the broader responsible management and management education community.
