JMIR Publications and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas announce flat-fee unlimited OA agreement -

JMIR Publications and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) have announced a Flat-Fee Unlimited Open Access Publishing Agreement. The agreement replaces individual Article Processing Charges (APCs) with a single Institutional Publishing Fee (IPF), with APC expanded here as Article Processing Charge and IPF expanded here as Institutional Publishing Fee.

The agreement is intended to reduce administrative work for library staff, remove financial barriers for researchers, and make research findings immediately available through open access in more than 30 JMIR Publications journals. JMIR Publications said the agreement follows similar arrangements with other institutions.

Under the agreement, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas is supporting open science and bibliodiversity while providing its research community with unlimited publishing in JMIR Publications journals. Corresponding authors affiliated with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas will receive unlimited waivers for APCs.

Eligible authors can publish accepted articles in any of JMIR Publications’ more than 30 Gold Open Access titles, including Journal of Medical Internet Research, JMIR Public Health and Surveillance, and JMIR Mental Health, without additional cost to the authors. The agreement applies to articles accepted for publication from March 1, 2026, through February 28, 2027.
