STM has announced two new appointments to its team in spring 2026.
Georgiana Svensmark‑Baciu has joined as Senior Manager, Public Affairs EU, based in Brussels. She brings experience in publishing, open science, and strategic communications, having previously worked at Elsevier where she led the global launch of AI products for researchers and coordinated marketing for ScienceDirect books and journals. She holds a Master’s degree in Communication Science from the University of Amsterdam and a degree in Politics and International Relations from the University of Manchester. In her new role, she will support STM’s EU policy engagement alongside Claudia Russo, Director, Public Affairs EU.
Mithu Lucraft has joined as Director of Communications & Marketing. She has more than 20 years of experience in strategic communications and marketing across scholarly publishing. Most recently, she worked as a senior consultant at TBI Communications, advising academic publishers, research societies, and partner organizations. Her previous roles include senior marketing positions at Springer Nature and communications roles at SAGE Publications and Oxford University Press. She brings expertise in multi‑channel communications, thought leadership, and stakeholder engagement, with a record of building high‑performing teams.
