EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) has appointed Allen Powell as Chief Executive Officer. Powell brings extensive experience across the organization, along with a strong understanding of its customers, products, and long‑term strategy.
Powell has held senior leadership roles at EBSCO for more than three decades. He most recently served as Interim Chief Executive Officer, Executive Vice President, and Chief Financial Officer. In earlier positions, he oversaw operational and financial functions across EBSCO’s global offices and directed the Serials and GOBI Library Solutions businesses.
Bryson Stephens, CEO of EBSCO Industries, noted that Powell’s long tenure has provided him with deep institutional knowledge and a strong grasp of the company’s strategy and customer needs. Stephens indicated that Powell has consistently demonstrated principled leadership, a strategic mindset, and effective execution across the business. He added that Powell is well positioned to guide the company through a changing landscape and to continue delivering the trust, quality, and accuracy that customers expect.
Powell stated that he was honored to serve as Chief Executive Officer, emphasizing EBSCO’s legacy, talented team, and commitment to supporting customers with reliable information and technology solutions. He expressed his intention to work with colleagues across the organization to build on that foundation and continue delivering products and services that customers rely on.
Powell began his career as a CPA at Ernst & Young before joining EBSCO. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration‑Accounting from Samford University, where he also played collegiate baseball. In addition to his professional responsibilities, he serves as a board member for youth organizations in his community.
