The International Society of Nephrology (ISN) has announced the appointment of Jai Radhakrishnan, MD, as the next Editor‑in‑Chief of Kidney International (KI), its flagship journal. His term will begin on January 1, 2027, following the tenure of Pierre Ronco, MD, PhD, who will retire from the role at the end of 2026.
Dr. Radhakrishnan is Professor of Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center in New York and currently serves as Editor‑in‑Chief of Kidney International Reports (KIR), part of the ISN journal family. Under his leadership, KIR has become a leading fully open‑access publication in nephrology. He brings extensive editorial experience, a commitment to advancing global kidney health, and a vision for the continued development of KI.
Dr. Ronco has served as Editor‑in‑Chief since 2018. During his tenure, KI reinforced its reputation as a leading journal for high‑impact research in nephrology.
Kidney International is widely regarded as one of the most influential journals in the field, publishing research on the development and consequences of kidney disease and playing a central role in advancing knowledge and improving kidney care globally.
