ACS appoints Pamela Fisher as Senior Vice President -

The American Chemical Society (ACS) has announced the appointment of Pamela Fisher as Senior Vice President of Inclusion and Belonging. She will join ACS’ executive leadership team on May 26, 2026.

Fisher brings more than 20 years of experience in organizational effectiveness, culture, leadership, and engagement. She has worked with CEOs, executive teams, and boards to integrate inclusive practices into systems and strategies that support performance, innovation, and long‑term impact. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from George Mason University.

Most recently, Fisher served as Chief Inclusion and Diversity Officer at Bristol Myers Squibb, where she led a global inclusion and belonging strategy during a period of organizational transformation. Her work focused on strengthening workforce engagement, scientific innovation, and organizational performance. Her career has also included leadership roles in research and development, technology, talent strategy, and community engagement, with efforts spanning clinical trial design, AI governance, and patient access.

Prior to Bristol Myers Squibb, Fisher held leadership positions at Johnson & Johnson, Quest Diagnostics, and News Corp/Fox. In these roles, she directed enterprise‑wide initiatives in culture, leadership development, philanthropy, and public affairs. She has been recognized for building collaborative partnerships and aligning culture with business strategy to create environments where individuals can contribute fully.

Albert G. Horvath, Chief Executive Officer of ACS, stated that Fisher’s expertise in embedding inclusion and belonging into organizational operations will strengthen ACS’ commitment to fostering an inclusive scientific enterprise. He noted that her leadership will help ensure diverse perspectives continue to advance chemistry and benefit society.

Fisher explained that she was drawn to ACS because of its ability to connect science, opportunity, and community impact at scale. She emphasized her career‑long commitment to building equitable systems that expand opportunity and unlock human potential, and expressed enthusiasm about partnering with ACS leadership, staff, and members to ensure a wide range of perspectives contribute to scientific advancement.

In her new role, Fisher will lead efforts to expand inclusion and belonging across ACS globally, supporting its mission to ensure the scientific enterprise benefits from diverse experiences, perspectives, and talent.
