Elsevier Open Access program resumes under National License in 2026 -

The Elsevier Open Access publishing program resumed on May 20, 2026, with a new pool of 1,084 articles available for publication under the national license. Eligible articles include those accepted for publication in 2026 after the agreement with Elsevier was signed, regardless of submission date.

An announcement regarding the program’s resumption was published on May 21, 2026, on the Virtual Library of Science (WBN) website.

For 2026, the program covers 1,120 hybrid journals across seven thematic ScienceDirect collections:

• Biochemistry

• Genetics and Molecular Biology

• Computer Science

• Engineering

• Health Sciences

• Immunology and Microbiology

• Mathematics, Physics, and Astronomy

It also includes journals from the Lancet group.

Under the national Elsevier license, the publication of a limited number of articles—1,084 in 2026—is exempt from Article Processing Charges (APCs).

Up‑to‑date information on open access publishing programs, prepared by the University of Lodz Library team, is available in the UniLodz Employee Knowledge Base under the Open Science tab (accessible after login).
