ACS Publications launches ACS Publishing Center for manuscript submission -

The Publications Division of the American Chemical Society (ACS) has launched the ACS Publishing Center, a unified manuscript submission platform powered by ChronosHub. The system is now available across all ACS journals and is designed to streamline author workflows and improve efficiency during the publishing process.

The platform consolidates submission tasks into a single interface, enabling researchers to upload manuscripts, review extracted metadata, and track their submissions throughout the editorial process. Automated workflows reduce redundant data entry and administrative burden, supporting both authors and editorial teams. According to ACS, 86% of authors rated the submission process as easy or very easy.

Sarah Tegen, Senior Vice President and Chief Publishing Officer of ACS Publications, stated that the implementation of the ACS Publishing Center represents a significant step in serving the global scientific community. She explained that the system was designed to provide an intuitive submission experience, allowing authors to focus on research rather than navigating complex processes.

Developed in partnership with ChronosHub, an independent ACS subsidiary, the platform demonstrates how scalable and interoperable systems can enhance publishing efficiency across a large journal portfolio. ChronosHub’s infrastructure is intended to provide value not only for ACS Publications but also for other publishers, institutions, and funders seeking flexible tools that connect across the scholarly ecosystem.

Christian Grubak, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of ChronosHub, noted that the rollout was designed to improve the submission process for authors while raising the quality of manuscripts received by journals. He emphasized that the initiative reflects a broader industry need for integrated tools rather than rigid systems.

In recognition of its development, ChronosHub received the 2026 Excellence in Publishing, Information Technology & Communications (EPIC) Award from the Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP) for the ACS Publishing Center.

This milestone highlights ACS Publications’ ongoing efforts to modernize scholarly publishing infrastructure, improve efficiency for authors and partners, and support a more connected global research ecosystem.
