ALPSP announces finalists for Impact and Innovation Awards 2026 -

The Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP) has announced the finalists for the 2026 ALPSP Impact Award and the ALPSP Award for Innovation in Publishing. The awards recognize initiatives that demonstrate significant contributions to scholarly publishing and communication.

The Impact Award highlights projects and collaborations that deliver measurable benefits to the scholarly community. The 2026 finalists are:

• Research4Life — Provides free or low-cost access to more than 250,000 resources across over 12,000 institutions in 120 countries, supported by training and locally embedded assistance.

• United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Encyclopedia of Camps and Ghettos, 1933–1945 — Hosted on Project MUSE, this open access digital publication offers a fully searchable, authoritative resource on Nazi persecutory sites.

The Innovation in Publishing Award recognizes new developments that add value to scholarly communication. The 2026 finalists are:

• Imagetwin — An AI-powered image integrity screening tool for publishers, universities, and research organizations.

• Alchemist Review Journal Fit — Uses AI-driven content analysis to assess novelty, rigor, significance, and journal scope at submission.

• Thoth Open Metadata — A non-profit, open infrastructure platform integrating metadata management, dissemination, hosting, and usage insights.

• Duplicate Review Checker — An AI-powered tool designed to detect duplicate peer review reports, addressing concerns about research integrity.

• FigureTwo — Converts figures into interactive, data-connected outputs, embedding underlying data to improve communication of research findings.

The winners will be announced at the ALPSP Annual Conference, scheduled to take place at The Manchester Deansgate Hotel in the United Kingdom from September 9–11, 2026. Finalists will present their work during the Awards Finalists Lightning Presentations session on September 9, with the award ceremony held during the conference dinner on September 10.
