LIBER 2026 annual conference highlights collaboration -

The 55th LIBER Annual Conference, hosted at NTNU University Library from 1–3 July, brought together more than 500 participants from across Europe’s research library community under the theme “The Power of Libraries in an Uncertain World.”

LIBER President Julien Roche emphasized the enduring role of university and research libraries as trusted institutions and bridges between academia and society. Across three days, attendees engaged in plenary sessions, workshops, panel discussions, and poster presentations, reflecting on the challenges and opportunities facing libraries in a rapidly changing global landscape.

The conference programme was extensive, featuring 526 attendees, 45 sessions (including 11 plenaries, 15 parallel sessions, and 12 workshops), 3 keynote speeches, 23 poster presentations, 2 panel discussions, and 1 national insights session. Participants also enjoyed 2 sport activities, while excellence was recognized through 3 Innovation Award winners and 1 Poster Award winner. Behind the scenes, the event was supported by 5 LIBER office staff, 7 NTNU staff, and 30 volunteers, ensuring a vibrant and successful gathering.

Conference materials, including slides, posters, photos, illustrations, and recordings, will be made available through the LIBER 2026 Zenodo Community, Flickr, and YouTube channels, extending the impact of the event to a wider audience.

LIBER expressed gratitude to all participants, hosts, sponsors, and volunteers who contributed to the success of the conference. The organization looks forward to continuing this momentum at next year’s gathering.
