Springer Nature has introduced Nature Books, a new imprint that allows authors to publish long‑form works under the Nature Portfolio brand for the first time.
The imprint is designed to provide authors with a distinctive publishing experience that combines the subject expertise of in‑house Nature Portfolio editors with Springer Nature’s established leadership in academic books. This approach aims to help authors develop, refine, and extend the reach of their work.
Harsh Jegadeesan, Chief Publishing Officer at Springer Nature, stated that books play a vital role in the research ecosystem by enabling authors to explore complex questions with depth and context not always possible in other formats. He noted that, as the world’s largest academic book publisher, Springer Nature is committed to offering publishing options that support author choice and broaden the impact of scholarly work. He added that Nature Books exemplifies this commitment by bringing together the company’s strengths in academic publishing and editorial expertise.
Targeted at academics, policymakers, and funders, Nature Books will publish works that integrate evidence, expertise, and insight on pressing issues in research and society. The imprint complements Springer Nature’s existing portfolio, which includes Springer and Palgrave Macmillan, and will be supported by a specialized editorial board of Nature Portfolio editors.
Springer Nature publishes approximately 14,500 books annually, reinforcing its position as the largest academic book publisher worldwide. The first titles under the Nature Books imprint are expected to be released later this year.
