FACETS, published by Canadian Science Publishing, has announced the appointment of Dr. Joseph Bennett as its newest co‑Editor‑in‑Chief. He joins Dr. Claire Jardine and Dr. Philip A. Loring in leading the journal. Dr. Fanie Pelletier, who has served as co‑Editor‑in‑Chief since 2021, will conclude her term on September 1, 2026.

Dr. Bennett is a Professor in the Institute of Environmental and Interdisciplinary Sciences and the Department of Biology at Carleton University, where he also co‑directs the Geomatics and Landscape Ecology Laboratory. His research focuses on conservation decision‑making, invasion ecology, optimal monitoring, environmental policy, and spatial statistics. He has a particular interest in applied research aimed at protecting threatened species, managing invasive species, and informing national environmental policy. His lab also develops optimization tools to help resource managers achieve conservation goals more effectively.

His work has been applied by governments and non‑governmental organizations in Canada and internationally to guide conservation priorities. With his background in applied and community‑led research, Dr. Bennett is expected to support FACETS in publishing multidisciplinary studies that provide researchers, policymakers, and practitioners with strategies to address pressing issues in ecology and conservation.
