EBSCO Information Services has introduced Filipino Studies Source, a full-text database designed to support teaching, learning, and research focused on the Philippines. The resource combines journals, magazines, and e-books from academic publishers and Philippine institutions, providing researchers with access to locally produced scholarship alongside international perspectives.
The database includes 116 active peer-reviewed journals and magazines, along with 50 e-book titles. Publications come from leading Philippine universities, professional associations, and research institutions, making regional scholarship more discoverable to a global audience.
The collection supports interdisciplinary research across fields such as business, economics, education, environmental studies, health, humanities, law, literature, medicine, science, and technology. Topics covered range from Filipino language and literature to politics, religion, sociology, biodiversity, and cultural studies.
According to EBSCO, the database was developed to meet growing demand for authoritative regional scholarship. Sara Earley, Senior Vice President of Content, explained that the resource reflects EBSCO’s commitment to expanding access to regionally significant content. She noted that by increasing access to locally published, peer-reviewed scholarship, the database enables students, faculty, and researchers to explore Filipino studies through a more comprehensive and balanced collection of perspectives.
Available on the EBSCOhost platform, Filipino Studies Source also incorporates AI-supported research features and an intuitive interface designed to streamline discovery and navigation for users at all academic levels.
