OpenAIRE has announced the upcoming FAIR Research Data Management (RDM) Train‑the‑Trainers Bootcamp for Data Stewards, a four‑day online program scheduled for October 26–29, 2026. The initiative is designed to strengthen the practical and teaching skills of professionals who support research communities in implementing FAIR and Open Science practices.
The Bootcamp is aimed at intermediate and experienced data stewards, librarians, repository managers, research support professionals, and institutional RDM practitioners who already provide guidance within their organizations and wish to expand their capacity to train researchers and junior colleagues.
Adopting a Train‑the‑Trainers approach, the program will combine practical exercises, institutional case studies, collaborative activities, and reusable teaching resources that participants can adapt within their own institutions. Sessions will cover the full research data lifecycle, including FAIR principles in practice, data management planning, metadata quality, trusted repositories, long‑term preservation, research integrity, reproducibility, and legal and ethical considerations such as GDPR.
The Bootcamp will be delivered by European experts and will emphasize peer learning, mentoring, and hands-on practice. Participation is limited to 30 selected applicants to ensure interaction and engagement. Applications will open in early September 2026, with results announced in the first week of October.
OpenAIRE noted that the program reflects its commitment to advancing FAIR Research Data Management and strengthening institutional capacity for Open Science across Europe. The organization also acknowledged the contributions of the OpenAIRE Research Data Management Working Group experts in shaping the Bootcamp.
