Optica Publishing Group has announced the appointment of Kartik Srinivasan as the new Editor‑in‑Chief of Optica Quantum. He succeeds Michael G. Raymer, the founding editor‑in‑chief.
Srinivasan is a Fellow at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the NIST/University of Maryland Joint Quantum Institute, where he also serves as Co‑Director and Adjunct Professor of Physics. His research focuses on integrated quantum photonics, nonlinear nanophotonics, and photonic crystals, with applications in quantum communications, sensing, and metrology. He has authored more than 200 peer‑reviewed publications, is a Fellow of Optica, and has received honors including the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE) and the NIST Samuel Wesley Stratton Award. He has been engaged with Optica Quantum as Deputy Editor since its launch in 2023.
In remarks about his appointment, Srinivasan emphasized the importance of supporting society‑led publications such as Optica Quantum. He noted that he had been involved in developing the journal from its inception and expressed pride in its progress to date. He stated that he looked forward to continuing work with the editorial board and support team to serve the quantum science community.
