Springer Nature and Binghamton University sign three‑year Transformative Agreement -

Springer Nature has entered into a three‑year Transformative Agreement with Binghamton University, enabling affiliated researchers to publish Open Access (OA) in Springer’s hybrid portfolio. The agreement covers subject areas such as engineering, biomedical and life sciences, chemistry, and materials science. In addition, Binghamton researchers will have read access to Springer, Palgrave, Academic Journals on nature.com, and the Adis journals.

Maria Lopes, Vice President of Institutional Sales at Springer Nature, noted that the partnership with Binghamton University is intended to support researchers in sharing their work openly with the global community. She explained that by removing barriers to OA publishing and providing access to Springer Nature’s content, the agreement is expected to enhance the visibility and impact of discoveries across disciplines.

Matt Gallagher, Assistant Director for Collections Strategy at Binghamton University Libraries, stated that the institution is committed to using existing journal expenditures to further support open access publishing. He emphasized that the agreement with Springer Nature provides researchers with broader opportunities to share their work globally without concerns about article processing charges.

Both Springer Nature and Binghamton University are working to ensure researchers are informed about the publishing opportunities available through the agreement, aiming to maximize participation and institutional impact.
