The American Library Association (ALA) has announced the opening of its call for education program and poster proposals for the ALA 2027 Annual Conference & Exhibition, scheduled for June 24–28, 2027, in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Annual Conference will address pressing challenges and opportunities facing libraries, with professional development sessions rooted in timely research, innovation, and best practices.
ALA stated that submission sites for both education programs and posters are now open and will remain available through September 21, 2026. Separate submission guides and rubrics are provided for each category to ensure clarity in the proposal process.
Education program proposals must align with programmatic priorities outlined in the submission guide and will be evaluated using the education program proposal rubric. Sessions are designed to run for 60 minutes, including 10–15 minutes for audience questions. Proposals may be submitted to one of ALA’s seven Divisions or to the ALA jury, which includes representatives from Round Tables, Offices, and Affiliates.
Poster proposals should follow the poster proposal submission guide, which details six poster categories and provides step-by-step instructions. Poster sessions will be presented during 90-minute blocks, with evaluation based on the poster proposal rubric.
ALA emphasized that both submission sites will close on Monday, September 21, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern, and late proposals cannot be accepted. Notifications of acceptance will be issued in December 2026.
