Cambridge University Press & Assessment will hold its inaugural Cambridge AI in Education Summit on October 15–16, 2026, focusing on the theme of AI and human intelligence in education. The event will examine the future of learning, assessment, cognition, judgment, and educational responsibility in the context of rapidly advancing technologies.
Organized in collaboration with LOGOS, a University of Cambridge research initiative, the summit will bring together academics and industry representatives, including organizations such as Google and the Raspberry Pi Foundation. Keynote speakers include Professor Johanna Pirker of Graz University of Technology and the Technical University of Munich, a member of the UN’s Independent International Scientific Panel on AI. The program will also feature perspectives from a high school student on the opportunities and challenges of educational technology.
Discussions will address seven central themes related to AI and education, with a focus on what education should protect, cultivate, and assess as AI becomes more integrated into learning and society. The summit will explore how AI can enable human intelligence and create new opportunities for learning.
Craig Nicholson, Chief AI Officer, stated that the summit comes at a pivotal moment for education. He explained that the event will explore how AI can be harnessed responsibly and equitably while maintaining critical thinking, ethical judgment, curiosity, creativity, and human connection at the core of education.
The summit has attracted international interest, with nearly 400 abstracts submitted. The two‑day program will begin on October 15 in Cambridge, highlighting research and perspectives shaping current debates in the education sector.
Cambridge University Press & Assessment’s Education Futures and research teams are contributing to the design of the summit to ensure discussions focus on the skills and capabilities learners and educators will need to succeed in a complex and uncertain world.
