Copyright Clearance Center (CCC) will host a panel titled Publisher Strategies for Navigating the AI Value Chain during the Frankfurt Book Fair on October 7, 2026, from 14:00 to 15:00 CEST at the Dialogue Stage, Foyer of Hall 4.
Panelists include Caroline Sutton, Chief Executive Officer of the International Association for Scientific, Technical and Medical Publishers (STM); Chris Reid, Senior Director of Product Management at Wiley; and Mehmet Toral, Chief Corporate Officer and General Counsel at Frontiers. The session will be moderated by Roy Kaufman, Managing Director of Business Development and Government Relations at CCC.
In addition to the panel, Kaufman will speak at The Scholarly Kitchen Live on October 8, 2026, during Session 2, Licensing as the Key. His presentation will focus on licensing as a foundation for sustainability, integrity, and addressing emerging legal and market issues related to AI.
CCC recently released its 2026 Copyrighted Content Usage Trends Report, which examined how professionals share externally published content and highlighted the impact of AI on copyright compliance and risk management. The organization also announced the addition of funder data within Ringgold Organizations, a persistent identifier solution used by publishers, service providers, and funders. The update includes more than 21,000 funder records, a new Ringgold Funder ID, and expanded metadata to improve publishing workflows and provide insights into the funding landscape.
Ringgold is part of the CCC Scholarly Communications Suite, which also includes RightsLink for Scientific Communications, OA Intelligence, and RightsLink Author Services. These solutions support publishers in managing data, article publishing charges, open access agreements, and portfolio diversification.
At last year’s Frankfurt Book Fair, CCC introduced its AI Systems Training License, a voluntary, non-exclusive collective license for training AI systems. The license provides lawful access to diverse content for AI training, offering standardized terms to reduce negotiation complexity and support responsible AI development.
CCC continues to advocate for copyright globally through engagement with governments, stakeholders, and individuals through educational programming and resources from copyright organizations, focusing on AI, copyright, and licensing. Its voluntary collective rights licensing solutions include ACL for Business, Multinational Copyright License (MCL) for Business, ACL for Higher Education, AI Systems Training License, and ACL for Student Assessments. CCC also provides integrated software solutions for requesting, receiving, and paying for full-text content and reuse permissions.
CCC will be present at the 2026 Frankfurt Book Fair in Hall 4.1, E24.
