While we all enjoy a quiet life, occasionally even indexing gets dramatic. Conflicts with clients, despair over deadlines, and agonising over embedding disturbs (and, yes, sometimes enlivens) our everyday lives. How do we cope? As any drama student or NASA astronaut will tell you: rehearse, rehearse and rehearse. Going over potentially dramatic scenarios and working out how to handle them beforehand allows you to be cool in a crisis.
The 2016 annual conference, a joint effort of the American Society for Indexing (ASI) and the Indexing Society of Canada (ISC/SCI), will be a signature opportunity for you to get some rehearsal in. With sessions on the latest developments in software programs, eBooks, recombinant indexes for textbooks, resolving client conflicts, embedding, taxonomies, and many others, you will be able to bone up on the latest techniques and trends in order to strut your stuff on the indexing stage.
